I Tried Shopify Dropshipping For 24 Hours ($0 to $1K Challenge)

shopify dropshping

Have you ever wondered if dropshipping can really make you fast money… or if it’s all just a scam? I took on the challenge myself to find out. No fancy tools, no team, no paid ads or software to give me an edge. Just a laptop, a free ChatGPT account, and 24 hours to hit $1,000 in sales.

Spoiler: I didn’t hit the full $1,000… but I came pretty close — and learned A LOT along the way.

Step 1: Finding a Winning Product (For Free)

Instead of using paid tools like Sell The Trend or Dropship Spy, I went the old-school way: scrolling through TikTok and Instagram Reels using burner accounts. I didn’t want to give myself any unfair advantages.

Products I Considered:

  • Hand Massager – Great for arthritis and highly niche. A win in terms of targeting.

  • Canon G7X Dupe – A budget-friendly camera trending for summer content creators.

  • Mini Washing Machine – Cool, but oversaturated.

  • Magnetic Beach Towel – Innovative, but low-ticket.

  • GPS Shoe Soles – Loved this one, but didn’t want to compete with one of my own students.

  • Portable Car Trash Bin – Practical, but too gross for me.

💡 Winner: The Canon G7X dupe. Why? It’s a high-ticket product, very trendy, and sold out in many countries.

Step 2: Product Sourcing on AliExpress

I searched for “digital camera” on AliExpress and sorted by “Most Orders.” That’s a key tip if you’re new — high order volume and great reviews usually mean quality and demand.

🔍 Found a 4.9-star reviewed camera for $40–$50. That’s a big margin if I sell it for $100+!

Step 3: Setting Up the Store

To keep things fast and efficient, I used Atlas — an AI-powered store builder. It helped me:

  • Create a Shopify store in minutes

  • Import the product directly from AliExpress

  • Auto-generate a clean product description (no copy-paste AliExpress mess)

  • Choose a sleek theme and upload content quickly

💸 Tools I Used:

🛒 Final Store Name: Frame Frequency

Step 4: Creating Video Ads with TikTok Content

Now for the grind: content. I downloaded UGC (user-generated content) from TikTok using Snaptic and edited everything in CapCut. I made 13 different video ads. Here’s the process:

  1. Trim out unnecessary talking

  2. Add overlays, captions, and CTA (Call to Action)

  3. Keep it fast-paced and mobile-friendly

📌 Tip: Use UGC to build trust — it’s how dropshipping thrives in 2025.

Step 5: Launching Facebook Ads

Here’s how I ran the ad campaign:

  • 🎯 Objective: Sales (Website Conversions)

  • 🌍 Target: All English-speaking countries

  • 💰 Budget: $60 total

  • 📊 4 Adsets × 3 Videos = 12 ads (+1 extra)

I uploaded the ads, hit launch… and went to bed.

Day 2: Did It Work?

💸 First Sale While Sleeping: $100

💸 Second Sale Before Pilates Class: $200

By the end of the day, I had made $500 in sales with 5 total orders!

Final Results

Metric Value
Total Sales $500
Total Ad Spend $160
Product Costs $230
Net Profit $110
Conversion Rate 3.05%

🔁 I tested scaling by duplicating the best-performing adset, but most adsets only had one sale — so I paused scaling for now.

Key Takeaways

  • Realistic Goals: Don’t expect to make $1,000 overnight with $10 in ad spend.

  • Tools Matter: Atlas and CapCut helped me save time and keep things lean.

  • Content is King: UGC from TikTok works. Period.

  • Experience Helps: This worked for me because I’ve done it before — beginners may face a longer learning curve.
